David Jaffe Personal Life
David Jaffe was born in Alabama on December 1, 1973.
He now lives in San Diego, California. David Jaffe’s net worth is 4.75 million
dollars. He had applied for the film school at the University of Southern
California. However, he was never admitted to the film school. David Jaffe
continued to working in the film industry even after not being admitted into
film school. After working in the film industry for a while he decided that he
would change his career path. So then he started designing video games. David
Jaffe also keeps a personal blog which he talks about non-game related topics.
In 2009, he had declared a media blackout for himself. David Jaffe did not post
on Twitter and on his blog during this media blackout. This media blackout was
supposed to end in February of 2010. However, his media blackout had ended
early because he made a post on Christmas day in 2009. The post included
wishing his followers Merry Christmas and that his media blackout was over.David Jaffe Career
He is well known for his work on the Twisted Metal
series and the God of War series. Both of these game series are Sony
Playstation exclusives. One of the early games that he had worked on were
Mickey Mania for the Genesis. Twisted Metal: Black and God of War were games
that made IGN’s top 25 Playstation 2 games of all-time list. These were a
couple of the games that David Jaffe has worked on. Twisted Metal: Black was
ninth on the list and God of War was first place.
In 2007, David Jaffe had left Sony Computer
Entertainment America. Soon after leaving Sony Computer Entertainment America
he start his own company with the help of Scott Campbell which is called Eat
Sleep Play. Even though he had left Sony his new company had signed a deal with
Sony. This deal was a multi-year deal in which Eat Sleep Play would design
games exclusively for Playstation game systems. Eat Sleep Play was based out of
Salt Lake City, Utah. The staff at Eat Sleep Play included former employees from
SingleTrac. SingleTrac is also a video game development company that worked on
games for Playstation and the PC. Singletrac has designed the first Twisted
Metal game which was on the original Playstation console.
Eat Sleep Play produced Twisted Metal: Head On for
Playstation 2 which is the first game that was produced in that studio. After
David Jaffe left Eat Sleep Play the studio started developing mobile games.
David Jaffe has also worked for Incognito Entertainment.
In February of 2012, he left Eat Sleep Play. The
reason why he left was because of creative differences. Then he started a new
studio which is called The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency. They are
currently working on Drawn To Death which will be a game that is exclusively
for the Playstation 4.
David Jaffe has also won a couple of awards. The
awards were VGX Award for Designer of the Year and BAFTA Games Award for Story
and Character.
